CIBP™ Candidacy Requirements

Aspiring candidates for the CIBP™ should possess a strong foundational understanding of key areas critical to success in investment banking and related fields. Eligibility Tracks for the CIBP™ Program

For Experienced Candidates

Track 1: For candidates with an MBA or Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting, currently employed in investment banking, M&A, Private Equity, Financial Engineering, or similar roles.

Track 2: For candidates holding a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in investment banking, M&A, Private Equity, Financial Engineering, or similar roles.

For Current Students

Track 3: For students currently enrolled in or recently graduated from BBA, BSc, BCom, or Master's programs in Finance, Accounting, or related fields at business schools and institutions affiliated with IBCA or accredited by AACSB, AMBA, or EQUIS.

For Credential Holders

Track 4: For Bachelor's degree holders with an active professional credential from recognized bodies such as the CFA Institute, AICPA, USPEC, GARP, IMA, CIMA Institute (USA), or CAIA.

CIBP™ Program Fee

One-Time Fee: USD 850

When you register for CIBP™, you pay a one-time all-inclusive fee of USD 850. This fee covers the exam, study materials, and the credential kit. The fee also includes the cost of shipment. However, it does not cover local taxes, duties, or levies (if any) in the candidate’s country.

The fee covers one (1) exam attempt and does not include any additional exam attempts, rescheduling, cancellations, or extending the registration period. In the event that you submit a request for a refund within 24 hours of making the payment, a processing charge of USD 80 will be applied. No refunds will be issued for registration cancellation requests submitted after the 24-hour period has lapsed.

Note: IBCA functions as a standards and credentialing body and does not regulate or control the learning resources or exam preparation training programs provided by authorized training providers. IBCA holds no authority over the fee charged by independent training providers, as these providers are solely responsible for the quality and delivery of the preparation programs.

CIBP™ Exam Overview

The CIBP™ exam is designed to evaluate the knowledge and skills required for a career in investment banking. The exam is 90 minutes long and consists of 50 multiple-choice questions covering key areas such as financial analysis, mergers & acquisitions, capital markets, and risk management. Candidates can take the exam online at a time that suits them, allowing flexibility in scheduling. Once you have confirmed your eligibility, it's time to create your myIBCA account. Through your account, you can submit your online application. The process includes providing essential personal details, educational background, and work experience and submitting the program fee. After applying, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a detailed outline of the next steps.

Note: Ensure your contact information is accurate to avoid communication delays. These emails will also confirm your fee payment and provide access to important resources.

Application Review

After submitting your application through the myIBCA portal, an automated review process will validate your credentials to ensure they align with the eligibility requirements for the CIBP™ Charter. This step is seamless and efficient, confirming that all the provided information meets the prescribed standards.

You may be selected for an audit at any stage of your preparation or even after earning your Charter. If selected, you will be required to officially submit the necessary documents. The notification for an electronic audit will include detailed instructions on compliance. It is of utmost importance that all information in your application is accurate and up-to-date. Audits are conducted randomly to maintain integrity. Should you be selected, follow the provided instructions carefully to comply with IBCA’s audit policies.

Prepare for the CIBP™ Exam

After completing your registration, you will receive your study materials, including the IBCA Investment Banking Handbook, within three to four weeks. Access to the online learning material will be available within 24-48 business hours of completing the registration process.

Earn Your CIBP™ Charter

After successfully passing the CIBP™ exam and meeting all other requirements, the results will be released within 10-12 business days, and you will officially be awarded the CIBP™ Charter. This includes a Digital Badge to showcase your achievement on professional networks and a physical credential pack, which will be delivered to your registered address within 3-4 weeks.
